The BCL (Clinical) degree is an innovative programme which offers students the opportunity to combine the study of the theory of Law with the observation and experience of its application in practice in the professional and legal environment.
Programme content
Year 1:
Introduction to the Legal System; Constitutional Law; Law of Contract; Criminal Law; Legal Research and Writing
Year 2:
Appropriate subject choices may need to be taken in second year, in consultation with the Clinical Education Coordinator, in order to prepare students for work placement in Year 3.
Law of Property; Law of the European Union; Law of Torts (unless taken in first year); Legal Skills and Legal Skills (Clinical)
Year 3
Third year is spent on placement with an approved legal organisation.
Year 4
Jurisprudence; Equity; Moot Court; Electives
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. Others must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects above must include:English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
